Summer Crochet Top: MonteNegro Now Also Available as a Crochet Version

Some designs seem to take on a life of their own over time. They are not simply purchased once – they keep appearing again, get remade, recommended, and stay present. That is exactly what happened with MonteNegro #1.

What originally started as an airy summer top for knitters gradually became a true favourite piece. I received many lovely messages, saw beautiful finished projects, and kept reading the same question:

"Is there a crochet version of MonteNegro?"

And as so often with me: good ideas never disappear. Sometimes they just need the right moment.

Now that moment has arrived.

When a Wish Becomes a New Design

I truly believe the best ideas rarely happen in isolation. They often grow through conversations, messages, comments, and exchanges with people who actually make my designs.

That is exactly why I take such wishes seriously.

Because between "That would be lovely" and a finished pattern, there are many steps:

Gauge swatches, yarn choices, shaping decisions, changes, frogging, rethinking – and sometimes one coffee too many. 😄

Out of that process came a top that was never meant to be a simple copy, but an independent crochet version with the unmistakable MonteNegro feeling.

Crochet has its own language. Texture, surface, drape, and structure behave differently than knitting – and that is exactly what I wanted to celebrate.

I get asked this question often – and my honest answer is:

It depends on your mood.

Why I Love These Evolutions

For me, a design does not automatically end after the first sale. Some models still carry more possibilities within them.

• New colours.
• New sizes.
• New techniques.
• New ideas.

MonteNegro #1 was the beginning.

MonteNegro #3 shows what can happen when community and creativity work together.

And yes – I still have a few ideas in mind. 😄

I am truly happy about this new design because it is not just another product. It is also a lovely example of how something real can grow from genuine wishes.
