A lightweight knit top that effortlessly fits into your everyday life –
that was the idea behind this design.

The BALU Top combines a clean, calm silhouette with a special detail:
The softly draped collar and the subtle shaping along the shoulders add an elegant touch to the simple design without feeling overdone.
The sleeves are naturally shaped through a combination of increases and decreases –
a lovely detail that gives the top its distinctive look.

One thing was especially important to me:
This design is completely beginner-friendly.
It doesn't require any complicated techniques and can be worked comfortably row by row –
perfect for relaxed evenings on the couch or as an easy, enjoyable project in between.

Thanks to its simple construction and clear structure, this top is also TV-friendly and grows quickly –
a project that flies off your needles while bringing you real joy.

It can be knitted using almost any summer yarn quality,
allowing you to easily adapt it to your personal style and favorite fibers.

Gauge in stockinette stitch
22 sts × 30 rows = 4 × 4 in (10 × 10 cm)

Skill level: beginner

Required skills:

• knit stitches
• purl stitches
• knit two together (k2tog)
• slip, knit, pass over (sk psso)
• shaped increases and decreases (fully explained within the pattern)

Sizes & Finished Measurements

This pattern is designed for sizes XS / S / M / L / XL.

However, the gauge information and the included schematic make it possible to adjust the fit individually.

To help you choose the right size, you'll find the finished measurements of the knitted top below. 

The top is designed with a relaxed, lightly draped fit and can be worn either close to the body or with additional ease, depending on the size you choose.

If you are between two sizes, it is generally recommended to choose the larger size for a more relaxed fit, or the smaller size for a closer fit.

approx. 200 g = approx. 900 m (984 yds) for XS
approx. 225 g = approx. 1,013 m (1,108 yds) for S
approx. 250 g = approx. 1,125 m (1,230 yds) for M
approx. 275 g = approx. 1,237 m (1,353 yds) for L
approx. 300 g = approx. 1,350 m (1,476 yds) for XL

→ This summer top can easily be made using other yarns (e.g. cotton blends)
→ Please pay attention to gauge, yardage and needle sizes

Needle sizes:
Knitting needles 5.5 mm (US 9 / UK 5)
Crochet hook 4.5 mm (US 7 / UK 7)
