Some designs never truly disappear – they simply wait for the right moment to be rediscovered.

For me, the HELIX #1 summer crochet sweater is exactly one of those designs.

Some of you may already know it, as the pattern has been around for quite a while. 

Still, over the past months I kept thinking: this design actually deserves more.

So I decided to take another look at HELIX #1, revise the pattern and create new photos.

At the moment I am gradually revisiting many of my older designs. Some patterns receive small updates, others get new photos – and some, like HELIX #1, receive a full relaunch.

A Realization After Many Years

When you design knitting and crochet patterns for many years, your perspective on fashion begins to change.

In the beginning, most designers focus on classic sample sizes. For a long time, that was simply the industry standard.

But through your feedback, your photos and the finished projects you share with me, I have learned something very important over the years:

A good design should not work in only one size.

I have seen so many different people wearing my designs – different body shapes, different sizes – and each time the same design looks a little different.

And from that, one simple realization grew for me: 

Style knows no size.

This is not a campaign and not a marketing slogan.

It is simply something I have learned from many years of designing.

A Design with a Special Structure

The HELIX #1 summer sweater is crocheted sideways. This creates a distinctive diagonal structure that gives the design its modern look.

The texture feels light, airy and summery – perfect for warm days or relaxed evenings outdoors.

The sweater is easy to style in many ways:

wear it loosely over a top, combine it with jeans, or dress it up a little more elegantly.

A Second Version – This Time in XL

For the relaunch of HELIX #1, I wanted to show something that is personally very important to me.

That is why I crocheted the sweater again in size XL, in addition to the original version in size S.

It is important to me that my customers do not only see a single sample size but get a more realistic impression.

When it comes to knitting and crochet garments, it can often be difficult to imagine how a design will look on your own body. That is why I intentionally wanted to show two versions:

Size S and size XL.

And honestly: I really like both of them.

A Little Yarn Story

For the XL version I used a very special yarn.

The pink yarn was actually a gift from a fellow designer friend. Unfortunately, there was no label left, so I cannot even tell you exactly which brand it was.

But sometimes these surprise yarns turn out to be the most beautiful ones in your stash.

The color fits perfectly with the summery character of the sweater and shows the design in a completely different light.
