Knitting friendships worldwide - how social media can create real closeness

17/05/2025

And as always in life: balance is key – finding the golden middle ground is what matters most! Here comes the positive response to my blog post from yesterday:

Who would've thought that a single skein of yarn could connect people across the world?

What used to happen only at the local craft group now takes place digitally – in Facebook groups, Instagram comments, Zoom calls, and shared projects. And often, these connections become surprisingly meaningful.

🌍 When Stitches Build Bridges

When I uploaded my first patterns years ago, I never imagined chatting with people from Germany, Austria, France, the US, and even South Africa about yarn choices and favorite needles. Today, it's part of my daily routine – and a beautiful part at that.

What connects us? A shared love for fiber – and the joy of creating something meaningful together.

💬 Test Knitting = Cross-Border Teamwork

Even if many of us have never met in person, it doesn't feel that way. We celebrate wins, help each other through tricky rows, and laugh about "accidental" yarn purchases.

Test knitting has become more than just pattern proofreading – it's collaboration, encouragement, and sometimes even the beginning of true friendship.

❤️ Connection That Goes Beyond Distance

I've sent birthday cards across continents, received kind messages when life got tough, and read heartfelt notes like: "Your pattern helped me find my way back to crafting after a hard time."

That's powerful – and shows just how deeply knitting and social media together can touch lives.

✨ Thank You for Being Part of This
