#StyleStitch: Style Knows No Size – 10 Truths Every Woman Should Hear

This year, I started bringing my initiative "Style Knows No Size" more consciously into my work.
Not only into my patterns, garment designs, and photos — but also into the way I think about handmade fashion, clothing, and personality.
Because the longer I design, the more clearly I realize something:
So many women spend an incredible amount of time trying to adapt themselves to clothing — instead of adapting clothing to themselves.
Too big.
Too small.
Too old.
Too curvy.
Too noticeable.
Too plain.
And somewhere between trends, size labels, and perfectly curated social media images, we often lose the most important thing:
Feeling like ourselves in what we wear.
With my new series #StyleStitch, I want to talk about exactly that.
About style. About confidence. About insecurities. About expression. About real people in real clothing.
And maybe also about a few truths we should hear much more often.
#StyleStitch: A New Series Close to My Heart
There are certain sentences women eventually begin to believe.
"I can't wear that in my size."
"I'm too old for that."
"That makes me look bigger."
"That doesn't suit my figure."
"I'd have to lose weight first."
And honestly?
Most of these "rules" were simply passed on at some point — without ever really being questioned.
The longer I design, photograph, and speak with customers, the more obvious it becomes to me:
Insecurity often doesn't live in the wardrobe.
It lives in the mind.
And something interesting happens the moment women wear clothing they genuinely feel good in:
Their entire presence changes.
Not perfectly styled.
Not polished.
Not "Instagram-ready."
Just real.
And that's exactly why we're starting today with the very first official #StyleStitch.
Not with trends.
Not with sizes.
Not with rules.
But with truths.
1. Clothing Should Fit YOU — Not the Other Way Around
It sounds obvious.
Apparently, it isn't.
So many women still try to force themselves into clothing:
physically or emotionally.
But we often forget:
A poorly fitting garment is not a personal failure.
Especially in the handmade world, we actually have an enormous advantage:
We CAN customize.
Adjust the length.
Change the width.
Extend sleeves.
Modify necklines.
Handmade means freedom.
Not standardization.
2. Style Has Nothing to Do with Clothing Size
A woman wearing size 4 can have no style at all.
A woman wearing size 24 can look incredibly stylish.
And vice versa.
Style is not created by a number on a label.
It comes from:
- presence,
- harmony,
- attitude,
- personality,
- and often from honesty with yourself.
You immediately notice when someone wears something that truly suits them.
And you notice just as quickly when someone is trying to be somebody else.
3. Oversized Doesn't Automatically Mean "Hiding"
This is something I personally find incredibly fascinating.
Many women choose oversized clothing because they want to feel less visible.
Others wear it intentionally as a style statement.
Those are two completely different things.
Because loose clothing can look:
- elegant,
- modern,
- calm,
- high-quality,
- and incredibly stylish.
Or simply insecure.
The difference is rarely the cut itself.
It's HOW you wear it.
4. Handmade Clothing Has Soul — That's Why It Feels Different
Perfect industrial fashion is often smooth.
Very smooth.
Too smooth.
Handmade clothing, on the other hand, lives through:
- small imperfections,
- texture,
- movement,
- personality.
And that's exactly what makes it interesting.
Maybe one stitch is slightly looser.
Maybe a sleeve falls a little softer.
But those details are what make clothing feel human.
5. Many Women Have Been Wearing Colors They Don't Even Like for Years
I notice this constantly.
"Black is slimming."
"Beige always works."
"Bright colors don't suit me."
And suddenly the entire wardrobe is filled with shades that may be "practical" — but emotionally do absolutely nothing.
Yet color can change so much:
- mood,
- energy,
- skin tone,
- presence,
- confidence.
And sometimes a single garment in an unexpected color is enough to make you feel more like yourself again.
6. Style Is Allowed to Change
Constantly.
What worked at 25 doesn't automatically become wrong at 45.
But maybe it simply no longer feels right.
That's not failure.
That's growth.
The handmade world is changing enormously right now too:
away from "just practical"
toward:
- mindful,
- high-quality,
- personal,
- long-lasting.
And honestly?
I love that.
7. Not Every Trend Color Needs to Enter Your Wardrobe
Just because something is fashionable doesn't mean it belongs to you.
That sounds simple — but it's incredibly freeing.
Sometimes a trend looks amazing on Pinterest…
…and completely wrong on yourself.
That doesn't mean something is wrong with you.
It simply means trends were never created for individual personalities.
Style, however, is.
8. Clothing Really Does Influence Our Behavior
And this isn't just a feeling — psychology has actually studied it.
People move differently when they wear clothing they feel comfortable in.
They appear:
- more open,
- more relaxed,
- more confident,
- more present.
And that's exactly why clothing is NOT superficial.
It's communication.
Handmade clothing especially tells a story about:
- patience,
- creativity,
- personality,
- individuality.
9. "Too Old for That" Is Often Just Social Conditioning
Honestly?
Who even decides when someone is "too old" for something?
The fashion industry?
Instagram?
Some lifestyle magazine?
One thing I love about the handmade world is watching women slowly begin to dare more again:
- color,
- bold textures,
- oversized shawls,
- statement pieces,
- eye-catching yarns.
And often, that's exactly when they begin to look truly alive.
10. Style Begins the Moment You Stop Hiding Yourself
Maybe this is the most important truth of all.
So many women spend years:
- hiding "problem areas,"
- making themselves smaller,
- trying not to stand out,
- trying to look "correct."
Yet style often begins the moment we stop constantly fighting ourselves.
Not perfect.
Not flawless.
Not trend-approved.
Just real.
🧡 My Personal Conclusion
Maybe that's the most important idea behind "Style Knows No Size":
That clothing is not meant to make us smaller.
But more visible.
Not in terms of attention.
But in terms of personality.
And maybe we all deserve to remember a little more often that style is not something you can buy.
It's something that happens when you allow yourself to take up space.
💬 What does style mean to you?
Have you ever felt "too much," "not enough," or simply "wrong" because of clothing?
Maybe now is the perfect time to stop feeling that way.
